Why an inclusive culture is important

At WTW we believe an inclusive culture — where we embrace individual perspectives, experience, insights, and ideas — creates a space where our colleagues are empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Providing an inclusive environment where different ideas and perspectives are respected is critical to our ability to transform tomorrows. This makes us stronger. It’s vital to our success as a company.

Our approach

Our senior leadership team is responsible for our overall talent strategy, which includes our approach to inclusion and diversity (I&D). Our global and regional I&D councils – with direction and support from our leadership team – focus on areas that have the greatest impact for our colleagues and align with our company priorities.

Our approach in practice

  1. Leaders are responsible for fostering and supporting an inclusive culture.
  2. People managers focus on the effective engagement, development and retention of all colleagues.
  3. All colleagues are encouraged to support a culture of inclusivity and belonging.

We work toward supporting inclusion and diversity with the understanding that all our hiring, promotion and other employment decisions are based solely on merit, on an individual basis, without regard to protected characteristics.

Board Diversity*

Our board of directors reflects diversity of viewpoints, backgrounds, experiences and skill sets, among other things. Based on self-identified characteristics:

40% of our board of directors identify as female

10% of our board of directors identify as LGBT+

10% of our board of directors identify as African American and Black

60% of directors have non-U.S. citizenship

75% of board committee chairs are female

Global I&D calendar

Our global I&D calendar provides a framework to mark cultural events, which are optional and open to all colleagues. Additionally, our inclusion networks, which are likewise optional and open to all colleagues, are involved in the planning and delivery of our global events.
