Keynote: Setting the Scene in the Anthropocene
Emily discusses climate risk change and our potential response to the challenge. Anthropocene is typically thought of as the era in which humans have been acting in conflict with our planet, but Emily argues there is now an opportunity to redefine Anthropocene into the era in which humans act in support of the planet. Now is the time to seek transformational change to remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the atmosphere through technology, innovation as well as enhance and working with nature to repair the damage to the climate system. Whilst the focus is on climate risk to business and investment through the lens of physical, transition and liability there is an opportunity to reframe thinking and consider building greater resilience, taking advantage of cleaner growth and building reputation.
