Additional Insured Status Revisited: Endorsements that Frustrate Risk Transfer and How to Navigate Them

A critical component of a robust risk management program is a risk transfer strategy that includes securing additional insured status on the policies of subcontractors who are in the best position to control the risk their work creates. However, even the most carefully drafted trade contract cannot guarantee the desired coverage if the policies in question contain language or endorsements that defeat the intent of the parties. This can result in unforeseen risk to both upstream and downstream parties. This webinar examined policy language and endorsements that can frustrate this process as well as strategies to ensure both parties to the contract position themselves properly to receive the benefit of their bargain.
