Collections Insurance

Home insurance often doesn’t cover high-value items like jewelry, art, or rare wines. Collections insurance can globally protect these valuables. Inventory your valuables to prevent financial loss.

We understand that your home is more than just a structure — it’s a haven for what you cherish most. But traditional home insurance often lacks the comprehensive coverage needed to properly protect your most prized, high-value possessions.

Collections coverage is tailored to the specific risk factors of a collection, including

  • Worldwide protection for items in transit and on loan
  • Newly obtained coverage for up to 90 days
  • Care, custody and control coverage for damage to others property while in your care
  • Agreed value for scheduled items, removing the risk of depreciation
  • Repair and restoration coverage for items damaged in a covered loss and needing repair
  • Coverage up to 150% of scheduled value, to help safeguard against valuation changes between appraisals
  • Diminution of value coverage if an item loses value because of a covered loss
  • Breakage
  • Loss to a pair or set
  • Coverage for works-in-progress

Often without a deductible being applied. Without the proper coverage in place, you could be at risk of significant financial loss in the event of theft, fire, mysterious disappearance, or other catastrophic events.

Global coverage

Whether your valuables are at home, in a vacation home, or traveling with you, our insurer partners offer worldwide protection. You will have peace of mind knowing your treasured items are protected wherever you are.

Why inventory your valuables

Most homeowners rightly want property inspections to help them value their home. But many forget to list and get current appraisals for their most valuable collectibles. Without an up-to-date inventory, current market values and proper collectibles insurance, we risk substantial financial loss if these items are damaged or destroyed, for example, in a fire. You may never be able to re-purchase those rare and important items you lost, but it’s important to get paid fairly for your financial loss, so you can keep collecting.

What we can help you cover

Our insurer partners offer comprehensive protection for a wide range of high-value items, including:

  • Jewelry: From treasured heirlooms to modern luxury pieces
  • Fine art: Paintings, sculptures and other artistic works
  • Wines and spirits: Rare and vintage bottles and sizable collections
  • Couture: Specialized coverage for your prized wardrobe collection, including couture clothing, ready-to-wear, handbag and shoe collections.
  • Collector cars: Covers your cherished car collection from all classes, including rare/vintage, luxury, exotic, high performance and even current classics.
  • Rugs: Coverage for your meticulously crafted floor adornments and intricate tapestries, from Afghan to Turkish, and everything in between, we have you covered.
  • Collectibles: Stamps, coins, sports memorabilia, antiques and other cherished collections of a rare and historic nature

Frequently asked question

Collectibles insurance is perfect for this situation. It has both a scheduled valuation category and a blanket valuation category to choose from. Scheduled valuation covers specific items in your collection that have a complete description and a recent appraisal from the past 3–5 years. Blanket valuation doesn’t require individual descriptions or appraisals for any one item, and instead, provides a blanket ‘total coverage’ limit for the whole collection with a sub- ’per- item’ limit. A great option for this collector would be to schedule the most expensive bottles that have a recent appraisal, and blanket coverage for the remaining bottles with a chosen ‘per-item’ limit that matches the remaining collection. One coverage for the full collection.
